After retiring from Pan Am, General Charles Blair founded Antilles Air Boats in 1969. It was based in St Croix, USVI with the idea of having a flying boat service from New York to and throughout the Caribbean. In 1974, Blair purchased two Sandringham flying boats from Ansett Airlines. The airline soldiered on after his death in 1978 until the early 1980s.
