In the early 90s, British Airways took a 25% stake into USAir. Prohibited from increasing it's stake, BA abandoned the investment by 1997. During the alliance, USAir gave up most of it's European routes to BA. The formerly PSA western route network had been almost entirely dismantled by this point.
