The Air Traffic Controller's strike and their subsequent firing forced all airlines including TWA to cut service. Ironically, the reduced capacity was a blessing in disguise during the recession of '81-'82. TWA attempted a Denver and Kansas City hubs, in time those would be abandoned. Frankfurt services resumed.
