In the 80's Piedmont became a major carrier launching trans-Atlantic flights to London Gatwick in 1987 with 767-200s. Also service now extended to the U.S. West Coast, the Bahamas, and Bermuda. Hubs were located at Charlotte, Dayton, and Baltimore. US Air purchased Piedmont on December 31, 1988 and on August 5, 1989 Piedmont was folded fully into USAir. This is Piedmont's last independent schedule.
