With the elimination of Pan Am's Pacific operation, PA concentrated on it's remaining European, Middle Easter, and South American services. The real emphasis was on domestic flights in the Eastern part of the U.S. concentrated around JFK and Miami hubs. The National Houston hub had been dramatically paired back. Pan Am launched Its successful Express feeder service at this time. PA was phasing out it's L1011-500s (to United) in favor of Airbus A-310s after only 5 years of Lockheed flights.
