In December 1958 National leased 2 707s from Pan Am for a stock swap with Pan Am, introducing the first jet service in the U.S. At the time, the fleet consisted of Convair 440s, DC-7B's, and Lockheed Supper Connies. Havana, the airline's only international destination, was a major destination for the airline until 1961.
