Jet Blue is the most successful, heavily capitalized airline start-up in history, even more impressive considering the extreme environment pervasive in the industry. Even more impressive, Jet Blue created an original concepts for travel with improved service rather than cutbacks. Live DirecTv (owned by the airline), wide leather seats, brand new airplanes, innovative catering, high-end service, and a number of technological innovations separate this airline from the pack. Jet Blue also innovated successful coast to coast long haul service in the LCC segment. The carrier launched with 3 A-320s in February, 2000 with flights to Florida, JFK, and New York state. Their route map now stretches to all 4 corners of the U.S. and to Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. Focus airports are New York's JFK and Long Beach (Los Angeles). The founder of the airline, David Neelman, is a bonafide genius and is the subject of a new book "Flying High", a must read!
