1979 was the final prosperous year for Frontier. It was the 2nd largest operator in the world of the 737s. 1979 saw Frontier enter the Mexican market as well as Vancouver. The new livery, designed by Sal Bass, was introduced a year earlier in April, 1978. The route map shows the Convair fleet being phased out.
