Delta had begun a major international carrier by 1991: Hong Kong was inaugurated with this schedule. Nagoya and Taipei were added in the year. Delta began abandoning Asia in 1995, with Tokyo now the only destination. In Europe, Berlin, Copenhagen, and Manchester were added to already extensive routes there. Later in the year, Delta would acquire many European routes from Pan Am when it went bankrupt. Delta put a cash infusion into Pan Am and when it pulled out of the venture, accusations flews that DL reneged and put PA out of business. In terms of equipment, Delta took delivery of 2 MD-11s in November 1990 and A-310s from Pan Am. The Asian routes were served by L1011-500s.
