TAA (Trans Australian Airlines) - 1985

Trans Australian Airlines was Australia's #1 domestic carrier until its purchase by Qantas in 1992. Prior to that, TAA changed its name to Australian in 1988. The airline changed its name to Australian Airlines in 1988, a name that was revised in 2003 by Qantas for a new low cost international carrier. TAA, along with Qantas and Ansett, have never suffered an accident or loss of life. Australian Airlines, has been revived, rather than revised, for the newish, wholly-Qantas-owned specialist carrier operating basically international leisure routes such as major Asian cities to Australian resorts Cairns and Gold Coast, and major Australian cities to Asian resorts Bali and Phuket. Despite tinkering, the Australian brand disappeared and was replaced by Jetstar.
