Ansett Airlines was Australia's # 2 airline until its bankruptcy in 2001. Though a restart was attempted in 2002, the airline failed leaving Australia with Qantas and Virgin Blue. Ansett went through a string of owners in its 70 years from Reg Ansett to News Corporation to Singapore Airlines and finally Air New Zealand. The carrier had been entirely focused on domestic services until 1993 when it began service to Bali. At Ansett's time of demise, it was serving destinations in Asia and New Zealand. Ansett was noteworthy for having to operates its Boeing 767-200s initially with flight engineers due to union issues.
