Air Tahiti Nui has been a roaring success since its launch in 1999. The airline began with a solitary A340-200 and limited routes to LAX and Paris. Since then, the original 200 has been replaced by 4 A340-300s, and Japan and New Zealand have been added to the schedule. The airline caters principally to tourists, but also to expats and French citizens. With great service and fairly reasonable tariffs, the airline has become a strong competitor on LAX to Paris and LAX to New Zeland routes.
