Founded in 1951, government owned JAL is Japan's largest international carrier though private ANA is larger domestically and overall. As one of the world's largest international airlines, JAL operates the world's largest fleet of Boeing 747s. For years, JAL shunned alliances such, before finally joining One World. JAL is a totally Boeing loyal, operating only Boeing equipment. JAL is noteworthy for operating the Domestic version of the 747 for high-density flying of over 500 passengers on very short haul flights within Japan.
