America West had reshaped itself as a hybrid mainline/low-cost carrier by the late 90s and had added a new mini-hub in Columbus, Ohio. The fleet consists of a 737s, A-320s, and 757s. A year later, America West would find itself in bankruptcy and swimming in bad press. It would begin its re-emergence in 2002 as a successful low cost carrier. In 2005, it took over USAirways. In 2007, it attempted to take-over Delta which failed. The merger with USAirways has been plagued by employee and management issues.
