1 week before September 11, 2001, Alaska inaugurated it's first transcon flights to Washington's Reagan National Airport using 737-NG's. With the immediate closure of National on 9/11, flights didn't resume until November 2001. At this point all 727's had long left the all MD-80 and 737 NG fleet. Mexican services began in the mid-80s. Since this time, Alaska has inagurated transcon service from Seattle to Boston, New York, and Miami. Chicago has come on-line with service to Anchorage.
