Air Florida was a fast growing child of deregulation. Beginning service in the early 70s as an intra-state airline operating 707's, it switched to a 727, 737, and DC-10 fleet as it grew wildly especially after National was absorbed by Pan Am. In 1979, its fleet was serving Florida, the Northeast, and Bahamas.
