Trans Catalina operated a sea-plane service from Orange County, Long Beach, and San Pedro to the harbor at Avalon on Catalina, Island. The service was similar in concept to Chalk's in Florida but the 25 mile distance from the So Cal coast to Catalina made this an uneconomic proposition.
