Air Canada operated Boeing 767-200 from 1983-2008. Most were retired to Mojave as the A330s came on-line. Air Canada continues to operate its 767-300s for the time being. One of these AC Boeing 767s was involved in the Gimli incident and sits in Mojave following its 2008 retirement. The Glider is the nickname of an Air Canada aircraft which was involved in an infamous aviation incident. On 23 July 1983, the Boeing 767-200 jet, Air Canada Flight 143, ran completely out of fuel at 41,000 feet halfway through its flight from Montreal to Edmonton. The crew was able to glide the aircraft safely to an emergency landing at at Gimli, Manitoba.
