Air Florida Boeing 737-200 at Miami (1983)

This photo captured an Air Florida Boeing 737-200 returning from being hijacked to Cuba.
Air Florida was a fast growing child of deregulation. Beginning service in the early 70s as an intra-state airline operating 707s, it switched to a 727, 737, and DC-10 fleet as it grew wildly especially after National was absorbed by Pan Am. In 1979, its fleet was serving Florida, the Northeast, and Bahamas. Air Florida was purchased by Midway in 1984 and disappeared.
