This is the original and rare brochure for the Boeing 727 tri-jet. The 727 was the dominant short to medium haul airliner from the mid 1960s well until the 1980s. The original specification drawn up required it to be able to operate at New York Laguardia's 5000 foot runway. United was the launch customer in 1964. The final example came off the line in 1984, and until the 737 surpassed it, the 727 was the world's top selling commercial jetliner. American was the last major US domestic carrier to fly the 727, all the way until 2003. Today, Fed Ex is the largest operator with very few passenger operations remaining.
