Air Tahiti Nui at FAAA International Airport - Papeete, Tahiti

FAAA Airport opened in 1962. Up until then Bora Bora was the only airport with a runway long enough to accomodate long-haul traffic. PPT is the home base for French Polynesia's new flag carrer, Air Tahiti Nui, and for the domestic airline Air Tahiti. PPT is more quintessential South Pacific than modern international in look, feel, and operation. It has no jet bridges, has an open air layout, and is small despite the long haul aircraft that serve it. Domestic flights run to the out islands all day courtesy of Air Tahiti and Air Morrea. International service is typical of Hawaii and South Pacific with late night departures and early morning arrival banks. During the day, the airport is very quiet but at late night PPT is an absolute zoo. PPT is the only airport in French Polynesia with jet service. Other international airlines servicing PPT include Air France, Air New Zealand, Lan Chile, and Hawaiian.
