The Ft Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport is the 3rd busiest in Florida behind MIA and Orlando. FLL's astounding growth can be credited to a perfect storm of much lower landing fees from MIA, declining MIA passenger service, major growth in the LCC segment who avoid MIA like the plague, and additional population migration into Broward County. FLL has become overcrowded and delay plagued, a victim of its own success. FTL is located just 25 miles north of MIA, right off I-95 affording excellent approach views. FLL is served by all major U.S. carriers and the low cost carriers that avoid MIA such as Southwest, ATA, and Jet Blue. Delta and Southwest are the #1 carriers at FTL. International services fly mainly to Canada with JetsGo and Air Canada; the Bahamas with Laker, Chalks, Bahamassair, and Gulfestream; and Europe with Condor. South African made headlines a few years back when it transferred it's South African flights from MIA to FLL. The SAA 747-400 was the only Jumbo serving Ft. Lauderdale. The airline is one of the busiest commerical airports in America with a single runway for jet traffic.
