Dusseldorf International Airport

DUS is the 3rd busiest airport in Germany behind Frankfurt and Munich. It is the secondary hub for Lufthansa but it is most famous for being the hub and homebase for LTU, which serves Fort Myers, Los Angeles, Miami, Orlando, and New York. Who can forget the splendor of the LTU L1011s that used to grace this airport? Delta is the only U.S. carrier serving DUS (from JFK). It is also noteworthy for the Privatair Airbus A-320 flights that serve has flights Chicago O'Hare and Newark airports, which are codeshared with Lufthansa. The stunning new terminal opened in 2001, 5 years after a deadly fire destroyed the old one. These images were taken around the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
