17 years after the demise of its predecessor, Frontier has achieved some success as Denver's only home town carrier. However, the return of Southwest to the market, the slowing economy, andhigh fuel prices forced Frontier into chapter 11 bankruptcy while continuing to fly in 2008. United created Ted to challenge Frontier but Frontier's excellent product has fended off its bigger competitor. Frontier operates a mixed fleet of Airbus A319s and Airbus A320s from the originally intended Continental Concourse A. Frontier completed a deal with Airbus to be its exclusive supplier for the next 20 years as the 737s were sold off.
