CVG Terminal 3 Terminal Map

Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport, CVG, is located just across the river from Cincinnati, Ohio in Northern Kentucky. It is unusual for THE major metropolitan airport for a major city to be located across state lines. The airport's code, CVG, comes from the nearest major city at the time of its opening, Covington, Kentucky. The airport has 2 operating terminals. Delta is the dominant player at CVG, but has paired back the hub significantly since 2005 and will likely continue to do so post the Northwest merger, in favor of the far larger Detroit hub. Comair RJs are still though the most predominant type here as this is also Comair's main base. Despite the loss in service, CVG still boasts international service to London and Paris. Delta operates from the mid 1990s massive Terminal 3. Only 2 of the 3 concourses are currently open since the downsizing. All other airlines operate from the small Terminal 2. Terminal 1 has been closed since January, 2007. Cincinnatti/Northern Kentucky still has no LCC service apart from limited AirTran flights and is consequently one of the highest priced major markets in the country to fly into, owing to Delta's dominance here. This area boasts a number of major corporations including GE Aerospace and Proctor and Gamble so there will always be major air service, albeit diminished.
