Lufthansa operates over 60 Boeing 737 Phase 2 Classics (300s, and 500s). LH was the launch carrier for the Boeing 737, back in 1968, taking many of the first Dash 100s off the line. Lufthansa has shifted to Airbus A319/320/321 short and medium haul jets over the years so opted not to acquire the 600, 700, & 800 series.
Following the end of WWII, Lufthansa was prohibited from serving the Allies controlled Berlin until German reunification in 1990. Lufthansa purchased the assets of Pan Am's IGS (Inter-German Service) which connected Berlin with the rest of the country.
