Air Berlin Boeing 737-800

Air Berlin is Germany's second largest airline, after Lufthansa. It is an LCC headquartered in Berlin, flying to the Mediterranean, the Canary Islands and North Africa, as well as to major cities in Europe from 21 German airports. It's fleet is composed of 737NGs and A319/320/321s as well as A330s. Such a mixed fleet is unusual for an LCC. Air Berlin took over chief competitor DBA (Deutsche British Airways) in 2004. Charter operators TUI, Condor, and LTU were the next to be swallowed by AB. It began as Air Berlin USA in 1978 with a single Boeing 707 flying charter services between Berlin and holiday destinations and the U.S. Following Germany's reunification on October 3, 1990, German investors acquired a majority stake in the company and it became Air Berlin.
