China Eastern Airlines, along with the now merged carrier Shangai, is based at Pudong. Only founded in 1988 as an outgrowth of CAAC, China Eastern Airlines is the nation's second largest airline after Beijing based Air China. It is one of the relatively few carriers to fly Airbus A319s/320/321s alongside Boeing 737-300/700/800s. It also operates Airbus A300-600s, A330s, A340s, Boeing 767-300s, and has Boeing 787 Dreamliners on order. They are divesting of their Douglas MD-90s to Delta. China Eastern Airlines serves major domestic, regional, and international routes to Europe and North America. It is still predominantly government owned and has yet to join an alliance.
