Northwest is the only mainline U.S. airline continuing to operate these mid 70s vintage twinjets. They are well maintained however and the airline has just announced a major makeover for them which should keep them in the air for at least another 3-4 years. Another clue to their fairly bright operational future is that this elderly plane is wearing the new 2004 scheme.
