Chris Sloan, the founder of Airchive.com, has been an airline enthusiast, or #AvGeek, since he was 5 years old. Over the years, he amassed an extensive collection of aviation memorabilia and photos. In early February 2003, he decided to share this collection with the world and created Airchive.com. Along the way, contributors have shared their photos and memorabilia as well which we appreciate and credit. Airchive.com, based in Miami, Florida; covers the world of commercial aviation with a unique twist: We're not a breaking news site, but one that choses to fly in a different direction with unique features: airline timetables and route maps, photo tours of airport terminals in addition to planespotting, virtual tours of museums, rare access to scrapped aircraft boneyards, ultra-rare airline and aircraft brochures and memorabilia, and much more. As for Chris Sloan, he is president and founder of a major television production and promotion company, 2C Media which produces TV shows and promos for many national cable and broadcast networks. Occasionally, 2C and Sloan produce programming that appeals to his passion of flying such as "International Airport 24/7: Miami" on the Travel Channel and overseeing the TLC documentary on the building of the Airbus A-380 featuring John Travolta. Previously, Sloan has held senior level executive positions with NBC, TLC, and USA Networks. He has never worked in the airline industry professionally, which perhaps explains his passion. Sloan's aviation highlights include rare Boeing and Airbus factory and mock-up tours as well as being a passenger onboard the first revenue flights of the Airbus A380, Boeing 787 Dreamliner, and Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental as well as flying on the world's only flying passenger Douglas DC-7. Sloan is a frequent contributor to "Airways Magazine" which is a content and promotional partner of Airchive.com In his other life, Sloan is an avid married dad of 2 boys, decent off-shore fisherman, aspiring BBQ grill master, and all around tech geek.
